As Elon Musk's Twitter may cost everyone $8, here are 5 alternatives if you plan to leave.

Updated: Mar 2, 2023

Elon Musk's ownership of Twitter and the contentious policy changes that followed wreaked havoc on many people's lives.

Tesla CEO Elon Musk announced that the company would charge $8 per month for the blue tick of verification to generate new revenue streams for the microblogging social media platform.

It and other subscription-based initiatives Musk plans to launch sparked a heated debate among internet users. While well-known figures such as Stephen King and Alexandra Ocasio Cortez have criticised the move, several celebrities have quit social media platforms to express their displeasure.

After taking Twitter Inc. private for $44 billion, Elon Musk has begun making changes to the social media platform that have irritated some users, prompting them to seek alternatives.

Reddit

If you have a strong interest in something, you can search Reddit for a group or, in this case, a subreddit. The website is synonymous with "good" and "fresh" content on the internet. Being on Reddit gives you the advantage of staying up to date on all the latest news and events.

Most of the action occurs within the thousands of subreddits, each with its own set of rules. So, if you don't like the crowd in one group, you can leave and join another that is more appropriate for you.

Peeks Social

If you make videos on Twitter, Peeks Social might be a better option. It resembles Twitch in that users can donate to their favourite creators. As a result, the platform is dominated primarily by gamers. Peeks Social is a great place to start if you're looking for a gaming partner.

The only disadvantage of Peeks Social is that it is difficult to avoid adult-themed content. To view 18+ videos, you must download a separate app, but the regular app occasionally suggests age-inappropriate streams. Rooms, thankfully, have a rating system, so you know what to expect before watching videos.

Mastodon

Mastodon, launched in 2016, is open-source software for a decentralised social network with several features similar to Twitter. It has no advertisements, a 500-character limit, and custom emojis.

Mastodon has over a million monthly active users and has added nearly half a million users since October 27, according to CEO Eugen Rochko.

Facebook

Mark Zuckerberg's highly criticised social media platform Facebook is one of the social networking sites' behemoths. Because of its sheer size, Facebook can be viewed as a viable alternative to Twitter. Aside from the numerous features offered by the platform, there is no harm in socialising with family members.

Ownsfare

It is one of the newest and best social media platforms out there in the market because of its new and interesting features. Suppose you are also bored with the decades old UI and want something new, Ownsfare is the place to be. Ownsfare comes with a definition that creates a sphere of good community around us. If we talk about the alternative, then Ownsfare is an alternative to mostly all social media apps. You can create your content on this, but in Ownsfare, you have all the rights to your content; it's not like other social media platforms. Other users can also buy your content, and with this interesting feature, you can start earning from day one. Ownfare contains interesting new features that make the new ERA in social media! Just try Ownsfare once. You will not be disappointed.
